Here are some of the books which i remember and could find something to scribble about them, have read many others too but they didn't make an impression. There are few which i have read but now i don't remember their name, but have their taste in mind.I like reading variety. So have read many different authors and tasted many writing styles. I am always short of vocabulary to express my self so will just write how i relate to them :-
2. 'Rage of angels" --my first big novel. Typical Sydney Sheldon types! Just liked it because it was quite engrossing for me at that time
3. " Fourth Estate"---- great novel by Jeffrey Archer, read it when i was in 12th i guess. I guess i liked it because it was fast paced.I liked the persistence of characters to achieve their dreams
4. "Love story" --very sweet romantic novel .worth reading once ,I sort of like Eric Siegel style!! Short and precise. He leaves the the details for the reader to imagine!!
5. "Man woman and child" -- typical eric types!! Nice story though All the above listed novels i have read when i was just out of school. I am not sure if i would have read and liked them later :)
6."Godfather"--all time classic ,fest paced ,gripping narration, lots of things to learn and relate to in real life :) I think the movie has done justice to the novel(which is a rare case)!! what i liked about it is the evolution of Micheal, how ethics work, how society as such is based on favors and ultimately emphasizing the value of vision, the bigger picture. Actually there are many more things to grasp in this novel
7. "Alchemist"--Another all time classic. gets a little vague in the middle but definitely lots of places in the story where u want to stop reading and just imagine and understand the big picture. You read it and you to understand and interpret all those things written adn not written.I think every reader has its own interpretation of alchemist,If you want to read beyond words, read this one!
8. "god fo small things"-- read it recently, beautiful expressions!! its like she(arundhati) sitting right in the head of the 2 kids and writing down the every minute details. Its like reading a page --and slowly you can visualize and feel the aroma of that place she is describing!! Class language, excellent expressions and beautiful weirdo characters!! No story just the joy of reading !! :)
9. 'Nirmal babu's bride"---a very sensitive and deep rooted novel by Alison Mukharjee. Its amazing how characters unfold themselves sort of like in god of small things. Touches many sensitive issues. The one i liked was how some things take priority over many other things and there comes a point where even though everything else is right, you want to put a halt on the those few things at any cost!
10. " The great indian novel" -- hilarious one!! a very mature and intelligent comedy. what i liked was the blending of mythology and democracy. There is always a hidden or visible sarcasm on every page.brings out the hypocrisy in a very commendable manner :) I just loved this change! never read anythings like that before-- like to read variety. Looking for diversity read this one.I really became a Shashi Tharoor fan after reading this one.He will always choose the correct word to express himself sort of like Arundhati --even though often have to look up the dictionary.com. Though i already admitted i am not good at words :)
11. "Five point someone" -- read to get a glimpse of hostel life!! iys written very casually seems like Chetan Bhagat was short fo vocabulary like me or just wanted everybody to have a light read and have fun. Though i must admit his another one "One night at call center" was a pathetic attempt to cash on his previously earned fame.
12 "Illusions"-- I guess people have their pleasure in this one though i have to confess i didnt get much out of it
13 "Million dollar smile"--This one is a short story collections of Shashi tharoor. I got interested i short stories after reading RK Naraynan which ankur likes a lot . But i had fun reading this one. Its amazing how Tharoor captures character's mindset and expresses it!!
14. "City of Djinns" -- Ankur after coming to Stanford has developed interest in reading about India, He really liked this one , I read a few chapters but it just could not hook me like P G Woodhouse !! was not that gripping for me but if ankur gets a chance to review he would positively recommend it.
15. "paradise" -- typical khushwant Singh type short story collection. Touches the a very sensitive issue if indian society's -- attitude towards physical intimacy :) was too realistic and serious for me!
16. "Namesake" -- Ankur's all time favorite. I liked reading it but cant go through it again and again like him. He says he relates to its characters a lot. I don't till now but yes can recommend a reading if you want to take a glimpse of NRI's life and turmoil! I think Jhumpa Lahiri sort of was trying to write her biography. I wish i could do that some time i have so many things that i could write about my life since it has been so out-of-the-league. Don't know if everybody feels that way !! I think i just lack the passion, words and commitment for it :)
planning to read --- " To kill the mocking bird", " withering heights", "Monk who sold his ferrari" "freakonomics" something of Chitra Bannerjee since Ankur's choice though
pleas write me your suggestions too with your reviews to add to my list !

MONK who... is a boring crap, could not make the head and tail out of it, I believe that for a lot of books there is a right time in your life when they make most sense to you , i guess this is not the right time to read MOnk , at least was not for me, Freakonomics is a must must read , amazing book gives you a lot of insight into the minds of people, crazy use of statistics and all ..
Try reading something from ayn rand,my favorite .Shantaram is another one
And thanks for the reviews on so many books , i can pick something now....
